The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the Kurdistan Region announced on Tuesday the date of submission of postgraduate studies (diploma, masters and doctoral degrees) in the governmental universities of the region for the academic year (2019-2020), which will start as of 01/01/2020.
The Director of Higher Education at the Research and Development Department of the Ministry of Higher Education Sertip Khalis stated to the ministry’s website that during the meeting of the Ministry’s Council held on Tuesday, the issue of the application process and the postgraduate plan (diploma, master’s and doctorate) were discussed in the governmental universities of the region for the academic year (2019-2020) and the Council decided The start of the application process in universities starting from the date of 12/26/2019, explaining that due to the announcement of the Kurdistan Regional Government on the date for the New Year holidays, the date was postponed to 5/1/2019 and the application remains open until 19 of the same month.
He pointed out that the date for testing the scientific capabilities will be on 01/26/2020, and he added that the time for studying for the higher diploma, master's and doctorate degrees will start from 16/2020. Concerning the number of academic seats, he explained that the general total of the higher education plan for diploma, master's and doctoral degrees in the universities of the region for the current academic year is (5375) academic seats, and that (2,615) free seats will be distributed to the region's universities, new universities and technical universities.
Also (417) academic seats will be allocated from the public seats free of charge to employees of ministries and government institutions, and will be in a system of competition for seats and 2343 academic seats will be allocated according to parallel education (Parallel).
